FLIGHT TRAINING:

Trial Introductory Flights (TIFS)

A TIF is usually your first helicopter experience. HH's offer a comprehensive pre-flight briefing, followed by an instructional flight of approximately 60 minutes duration.

You are actually at the controls of the helicopter during this flight and will experience first hand the excitement of piloting the helicopter yourself.

Following the flight, there will be a debriefing. The time flown on the TIF does count towards the total hours required to obtain your pilots license.

Commercial (CPL) and Private (PPL) Helicopter Pilots Licenses

A Private License allows you to fly helicopters anywhere in Australia for private purposes, while a Commercial License is required to be able to work as a Pilot.

The difference is in the amount of theory and practical flight training required to obtain the license.

We offer ab-initio training, as well as license conversions for pilots who already hold fixed-wing or other licenses.

The Training Area

Ingham, the Herbert Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges offer a perfect training area for efficient helicopter flight training.

Located outside controlled airspace, there are no delays waiting for clearances and no landing fees.

In the later phases of your training, flight in controlled airspace is practiced on navigation exercises to Townsville International Airport or to Cairns.

Biennial Flight Reviews

It is a CASA requirement that each pilot undertake a BFR each 24 months.

We are able to offer BFRs at our Ingham facility, or our instructors can come to your location anywhere in Australia .. (please contact us for a quote)."

The candidate will need to produce a current up to date log book, and a copy of his/her medical certificate.

Typically BFRs take 1.5 hours but that depends on the students level of skill and further time may be required to meet the proper safety standard.

 

Aircraft Endorsements

Hinchinbrook Helicopters are able to offer endorsements on Robinson R22 and R44, as well as Schweizer 300 and Bell 47 types of helicopters.
